Static Var Generator operates by detecting the load current on a real-time basis through external CT’s and determining the reactive content of the load current. The data is analysed and the SVG’s controller drives the internal IGBT’s by using pulse width modulation signals to make the inverter produce the exact reverse reactive current of the corresponding load reactive content.
This is injected to the grid to compensate the reactive content of the load current. By adjusting the output voltage amplitude and phase angle to by directly controlling the AC side current, the SVG can absorb or generate var according to the load reactive power to the grid voltage level.

The utility model patent provides an IGBT power unit with high efficiency and small volume; it includes a casing, and the interior of the casing is provided with an upper power module, a middle power module and a lower power module which are distributed up and down, the upper power module, the middle power module and the lower power module. One side outer wall of the power module is bonded with three conductive plates, and one side outer wall of the three conductive plates is integrally formed with three connecting arms. The inside of each connecting terminal is provided with a jack, one end of the connecting arm is inserted into the inside of the jack of the connecting terminal, and the bottom outer wall of the casing is provided with a bottom plate.
This design uses the conductive plate to connect the upper power module, the middle power module and the lower power module in parallel in the vertical direction, which not only meets the requirements of the high efficiency of the IGBT power unit in use, but also reduces the volume occupied by the IGBT power unit on the plane. Small, so that the space occupied by the IGBT power unit is reduced.
